Ridges with pines and deep ravines and lots of sage with rolling hills, but I really don't know how I could bowhunt the area we're in and get in range to get a bow kill.

Do you do a lot of spot and stalk, stand hunting, or what? Totally different ball game when it comes to bow hunting out there versus rifle. Just curious on what approach works for you.
Patience.........is the name.....and a hellafalot of luck

Mine was spot and stalk.....we had some luck with scouting and stand hunting also........

I would say the best is a combination of both.......

KOZ that buck of yours is just plain SICK.......

I go with a great group of guys minus BWHNTR...

Haha, I know, pretty psycho looking. Not sure why all the red eye that camera does it sometimes. Yea, she was pretty big. I'll weigh her today before I process her.

Default First time bow hunting... first buck

Dusted off new 11 year-old 1998 Hoyt Raptor, updated single pin Cobra sight and QAD drop down rest. Practiced all summer. Hunted this buck for 4 days after I first saw him on Halloween night. Set up mock scrapes which he was hitting by day 3 (watched him by moonlight 10 feet away). Next morning he was hitting a mock scrape 50 yards away, let off a grunt call and he charged in roaring. He held up at the tree line then stalked out in front of me from downwind (thank you Code Blue on wicks). I knew he was a shooter and thought he was a 6 point, cuz I stopped looking at his head and was concentrating hard on that quarter sized piece of fur on the chest. I was pleasantly surprised when I found him 30 yards away an hour later. I'm hooked. Gun hunting will never be the same. This guy is deserving of a shoulder mount in my book. (He was shot below the spine clean through about 10 days earlier with a gun by poachers.)

Default First bow buck...

I'm definitely hooked.... I've been rather obsessed (according to the wife) all summer. I planned this out to the T, and had to work some long hours (4am - 9pm) to pattern this buck. It all came together perfectly... I just hope it's not all downhill from here LOL.

Tough to beat the property... on a river, with apple orchard in the center, surrounded by hardwoods, then surrounded by cornfields. We are planting food plots under all of the apple trees and in all the clearings.

The night I was set to hang this guy, a ten point was standing right next to him when I walked out... a 12 with drop tines in front has been caught on camera.... guess you can say I'm hooked. Don't tell the wife...
